The Tour

The gourmet corner
of the Winelands

Founded by French Huguenot refugees in the 1680s, Franschhoek is South Africa's gourmet capital — a valley where world-class wine, exceptional food, and dramatic mountain scenery meet. No other corner of the Cape pairs the cellar and the table quite like it.

  1. 01

The gourmet capital of South Africa

Some of the country's finest restaurants and most celebrated food-and-wine pairings, all in one valley.

  2. 02

    French Huguenot heritage

Three centuries of winemaking history, historic cellars, and a valley still shaped by its 1680s founders.

  3. 03

    Boutique cellars & iconic names

From tiny family producers to legendary estates — chosen for character and story, never a paid list.

  4. 04

    Breathtaking mountain scenery

The valley sits cradled by the Franschhoek mountains — arguably the most beautiful setting in the Cape.

A Typical Day

Your tour itinerary

We're happy to adjust pick-up times and estate visits based on your preferences — this is a rhythm, not a rulebook.

09:30

Collection from Cape Town

We collect you from your accommodation and head into the Franschhoek valley — or 10:30 if you're already staying nearby.

11:00

First estate tasting

A guided tasting at a handpicked Franschhoek producer, set against the valley's mountain backdrop.

12:30

A gourmet lunch

The highlight — a long, beautifully-paired lunch at one of Franschhoek's celebrated estate restaurants.

14:00

Coffee stop

A quick stop at one of the valley's excellent local cafés — an old habit from a former life in coffee.

14:45

Second & third estates

Two more producers through the afternoon — a historic cellar, a boutique gem, and a final tasting.

17:00

Home, unhurried

Returned to your door with notes on everything you loved — and a bottle or two, if you couldn't resist.
